Coastal Sage Landscape Architecture led the landscape design permit documents for the Pacific View Arts, Culture & Ecology Campus. The concept development was performed in collaboration with Arts, Culture and Ecology Alliance as an educational landscape to interpret the history, ecology and culture of Encinitas. This outdoor classroom is used for ecology studies and community engagement.
The Pacific View Academy of Arts is adjacent to the Encinitas Historical Society’s 1883 historic schoolhouse. The Pacific View campus is planned and designed to incorporate:
- Seasonal gardens, (organic food crops, Japanese truck garden, nursery flower fields).
- Permanent gardens (orchards and crops, ecology garden, history and culture garden that overlook the Pacific Ocean).
- Gathering and event area.
- Both rainwater harvesting and a low water use.
- Automatically controlled irrigation system.
