Lyndes led a comprehensive landscape master plan for La Posada Continuum of Care campus in Green Valley, AZ as Principal of SAGE Landscape Architecture & Environmental and later as Associate with Kimley Horn & Associates. Since 1987, La Posada has been a recognized leader in providing senior residential services to Southern Arizona, and they value the quality of their gardens and landscape spaces for enjoyment and activities.

We worked with the CEO to develop the campus master plan, which created a framework for the development of the 150-acre site. Working closely with the client-team, our team designed circulation and planting improvements which create outdoor rooms, provide shade and comfort, reinforce campus wayfinding and include consideration for all levels of mobility. To integrate with context, native and desert adapted plants were selected to relate to the adjacent river habitat and enhance the views of the nearby Santa Rita Mountains.

Plant palettes and design were created with unique attributes, building on the theme of campus neighborhoods and enhanced sense of place. We took this theme forward with the design of the central park – the heart of the community which encourages social and physical activities among residents. Enhancements included new pedestrian paths, fitness trails, and modifications to vehicular routes to encourage walking and improve wayfinding; a columbarium and meditation garden; and a poetry garden.
